Blitzen earns his keep.
Randi left for a playgroup about the time I got off of work. We talked on the phone as we drove, her into town, me out of town. We passed each other on the road. All together, our house was empty for about 20 minutes. I got home and saw a mess. A bloody mess.

Someone broke into our house. We think they came through the garage, as we leave it unlocked. Randi put the girls in the car and realized she forgot something. She ran in--as we often do--through the garage door.

Blitzen must have heard the dude come through the garage and figured it was Randi again. Then, when he saw him/her, he flipped. There is blood smeared all over the front door. There is meat on the door. There is blood on the curtains. The blinds are torn out. When the guy got away, Blitzen tried to keep after him, chewing at the door frame, ripping it to shreds.

This all happened in 20 minutes.

We figure he watched Sue leave. He watched her go through the garage. He didn't realize we had a dog until he got inside. The cops keep saying that he has to end up in a hospital somewhere. They're getting someone to come and take samples. They're calling the hospitals. Someone with bites and scratches.
